St Benedict’s Catholic College, Oran Park

Fulton Trotter Architects has been engaged by the Catholic Education Office, Wollongong Diocese to design a brand new 6 stream, 1000 student, secondary college. The site is located on a greenfield site in amongst a developing suburb in Western Sydney.

The Master Plan for the site is built around a central Covered Outdoor Learning Area Space. The Covered Outdoor Learning Area sits at the centre point of a view axis that links it to a landscaped Bush Chapel situated adjacent to the site’s two existing dams. This central axis forms the main circulation spine for the school and the remainder of the buildings connect into this central spine utilising a mixture of modern and traditional materials.

Brigidine College, St Ives

In 2010 Fulton Trotter was appointed to develop the Master Plan and the initial stages of the development following a design competition. The design for the site Master Plan seeks to maximise the facilities and usable site area within the school’s existing site while also revamping the image of the school to the community inspired by the school’s motto – Fortiter et Suaviter (“Strength and Gentleness”). New buildings have been added to the site and existing buildings modified in order to create larger areas of usable external space within the school while maintaining a strong exterior to the campus as a buffer to the busy roads surrounding the school. The design of the new buildings seeks to create functional spaces that are also educationally flexible.
