Fulton Trotter Architects enters Sydney InDesign ‘The Project 2015’ collaborating with Designer Pinboards Australia

As part of this weekends’ Sydney Indesign, Fulton Trotter Architects are pleased to showcase their collaboration with Designer Pinboards Australia (DPA) as part of The Project. The design for the exhibition stand evolved in response to the theme of “Ritual – The Art of Tradition”, as well as DPA’s launch of their new colour range. As we explored the concept of the ‘act of pinning’ it was discovered that there is great richness in this long held tradition of writing messages on walls. A tradition which has evolved in the current paradigm to be a virtual pinning or posting to virtual walls. To play on this a layer of samples was used as the outer shell which can be ‘un-pinned’ by participants to reveal the new range of colours demonstrated on the pinboard wall behind. This physically engages people in that age-old act of pinning to the wall, which is then followed up by a virtual pinning on digital walls through social media.

The artwork wall uses the new colour range of pinboards and was router-cut to create a unique pattern. The bespoke light was designed by our team, and created using the ‘cube’ range of acoustic panels from Autex, and is lit by Gineico lighting. It was put together with much love and care from David and the team at Designer Pinboards. The white Forbo floor offsets the colour of the stand, and is designed with a ‘window’ to showcases the raw materials used in the production of the pinboards.

Sydney Indesign runs until tomorrow and voting for The Project is open for its duration.
