BER and Architecture
The BER has come and gone. In a whirlwind of construction activity the schools across the country now have halls! Big ones, small ones, skinny ones, tall ones…We have been working together with our clients to make the most of the BER government funding to create a diverse range of purpose built school halls, libraries, administration buildings and classrooms which fit to the particular needs of each school community.
We have been involved in the design, documentation and now construction of six BER funded primary and two secondary projects, predominately in the Sydney & Southern Regions.
As part of the wrap up of these project, Fulton Trotter Architects Sydney did a mini-bus tour of a number of the recently completed schools projects in the Wollongong area. This enabled all of the staff to see the final product, off the documentation pages, and in the context of the school & community.
We found that the schools were really happy with their new buildings. It was great for us to see how the buildings halls were being used, and also to see ‘in the flesh’ how diverse the architectural responses were, given that the program was quite similar.
For all the ups & the downs of the BER rush, we are proud of the projects that we have been involved in, and feel that our clients & the schools are happy with the product & the service they’ve received.
