Broadbeach Library Urban Design Award
Team Orange has been awarded an Urban Design Award against a vegie patch and the Tugun Bypass for Broadbeach Library. Co-recipients of the award on behalf of the team Elisha Cason + Amy Sigley were just about to visit the ladies when to their excitement the award was announced at a gala function to mark the end of the International Urban Design Conference on the Gold Coast. The judges described the building:
“This Award acknowledges an excellent re-use and enhancement project. The panel felt this community facility portrayed a range of exemplary features, including the incorporation of good natural light and human scale.
It goes to… the Broadbeach Library”
Reused, enhanced, exemplary
The project was an extensive addition, rebuild and alteration to the existing building increasing the floor area threefold to 2500sqm as well as redesigning the outdoor space with the community building to form a much more legible urban design solution.
Another challenging project and a great result that the community has embraced.
