Parkview's Commendation

It was with great excitement that Fulton Trotter Architects were awarded a Regional Commendation for Parkview, Wheller Gardens at the 2011 Brisbane Regional Architecture Awards held at Brisbane Powerhouse on Friday 6th May 2011.

Parkview, Wheller Gardens is a brand new 144 bed aged care facility like no other. It boasts a beautiful ‘resort-like’ atmosphere for it’s 144 residents of high-care nature. The facility was a response to the Wesley Mission Brisbane’s strategic development plan that required an upgrade to the existing outdated facilities on the adjacent site at Chermside.

Since it’s opening, Parkview has received many praises from it’s residents, families of residents, staff, visitors and the Wesley Mission Brisbane board.

“We’re excited about this award because it’s a mark of excellence in Aged Care design in Queensland. We have an extensive background in Aged Care design and Parkview demonstrates our full capabilities of responding well to our client’s needs and their need for an Eden Alternative of a non-institutionalised facility for a large range of high-care residents”. Mark Trotter said.

“The team involved in this project should be exceptionally proud of this win. They all put extensive knowledge and hours into making this project a reality for our client”. he continued.

“The staff love Parkview, the residents enjoy the atmosphere and their families are always excited to come and visit their loved ones. We’re all extremely happy with Parkview and we’re excited that it’s been acknowledged at an architectural industry level”. Geoff Batkin of Wesley Mission Brisbane said.

Parkview, Wheller Gardens now qualifies to move on to the State Architecture Awards with Our Lady of the Southern Cross College Library & Hall which are due to be held in June 2011.
