Wesley House wins Brisbane architecture gong for commercial architecture
The Australian Institute of Architects has awarded Wesley House, a 5 Star Green Star Commercial building, a Brisbane Regional Commendation for Commercial Architecture.
The Jury Citation noted: This building forms a carefully crafted backdrop to the heritage listed Albert Street Uniting Church, and in doing so forms a modern yet harmonious counterpoint to the Church. The compact linear planning diagram nestles comfortably within a tight site and its fenestration confidently responds to environmental performance and locale.
“This building was a major project opportunity for our Client — Wesley Mission Brisbane, we teamed with Architectus™ to create a highly sensitive design solution to respect the neighbouring Church. We finished with a beautiful backdrop to the Church, yet also with a strong design statement for 21st century commercial architecture”, said Fulton Trotter Director Mark Trotter.
