Clermont Hospital
Clermont Queensland
This project is an alteration and addition to a 1950 hospital by one of our founding partners, Charles Fulton.
Various extensions built between 1950 and now were stripped away and a new in patient wing built to the north of the original building with ‘bridges’ across a landscape spine connecting the two sections.
The architectural language of the original buildings has been reinterpreted and revised in new materials in the new structures. An original pre-Fulton operating theatre has been extended and an aged care cottage constructed with similar architectural treatment acting as counter-points to the Scillion roof styling of the new and original Fulton work.
Interiors have used local botanical icons as way finding devices in floors and ceilings and all colours are drawn from the local natural environment.
