Skennars Head New South Wales

The design of the new Catholic Secondary School on a greenfield site enabled the Masterplanning to depict a small community. The Administration, Library, Assembly and Performing Arts, which are similar to public activities, were designed to represent a town centre. Their architecture is more formal and their scale relates to civic buildings. The teaching areas, which radiate out from the town centre, are designed to be smaller clusters of domestic sized buildings.

The strong Roman derived planning with symbolic religious axes are then constructed with the literal line. This is a path that winds through the site in an organic way to relate how the rocky coastal landscape meets the grassy plains. This allows the architecture, forms and colours to vary across the site.
