Albert Street Uniting Church

The Church was officially registered as a heritage listed building in 1992 and the Queensland Heritage Register cites the Church as “an excellent example of a Victorian Gothic Revival church, climatically adapted with side colonnades and front porch; and internally a good example of the major attributes of the Methodist tradition.”

The new Wesley House building next door was been designed (by Fulton Trotter Architects in association with Architectus) to defer to the presence of the Church by providing a considered backdrop with transparency and uncluttered lines to create depth of space for the Church. The building steps back 5 metres from the street frontage to increase views to and from the Church, and the colonnade entry to the new building is 5 metres high and allows a greater appreciation of the north east elevation of the Church.
