Calvary Leadership College

The Calvary Leadership College is a new addition adjacent to the existing Calvary Christian Church.

The brief was to add onto the existing church, incorporating a new welcoming entry and additional café spaces to cater for a diverse range of people to use. The new facility was to allow for a wide range of activities from meeting in small or large groups, before or after church, or even at night or during the working day. The college office had outgrown its current space and was lacking much needed seminar rooms.

An inviting new two storey, naturally lit entry, is positioned on the north. This space invites and directs the visitor between two cafés and further inside to a two storey Grand Foyer space. This internal space combines church and college functions and is also naturally lit with three large circular skylights and a flowing staircase. Green walls are located on a major wall line between the existing and new to further reinforce this phenomenon.

Two distinctive cafés on either side of the entry space have been provided for a range of age groups and size of activities. They are fitted out with contrasting décor.

The upper floor is comprised of seminar rooms that have the ability to be used as one, two or three spaces. The College general office has a centrally located clerestory that allows natural light to be reflected within. Offices and meeting rooms with views across to the school campus are arranged around this inspiring space.
