Chinchilla Christian School
Chinchilla Christian School is a co-educational independent primary school, with a strong philosophy ensuring that a Christian based education is provided for families within and surrounding the region of Chinchilla.
The site is located on the north side of the Warrego Highway, and sits within a residential and rural context that is also located within the heart of watermelon country and sandy loam ground conditions. The site is primarily flat and therefore views from spaces are to areas within the site.
The site planning principal was developed along the idea that buildings are arranged along a weaving path, like a watermelon vine. The weaving line travels through the site, commencing from the entry building and making its way to the last classroom building.
Material selection on all new and refurbished buildings draws upon that which exists in the local community in order to proliferate and blend in with the local character of Chinchilla. The buildings and spaces have been created with individual design integrity unified with a common theme. Generally, the materials used are of natural finishes with highlights of colour for way-finding and feature elements.
