Mt Maria College - Master Plan
Mitchelton Queensland
For the past six years Mt Maria College, a Marist Secondary College, has been working their way through the process of combining two formerly independent colleges. In 2006 Mt Maria – Mitchelton (Senior College) and Mt Maria – Enoggera (Junior College) became one combined Catholic Coeducational school, utilising both campuses and allowing for greater coordination in both educational and pastoral programs across years 8-12. In 2009 Fulton Trotter was appointed to undertake the master planning of the Mitchelton Campus to allow for the amalgamation of both campus on the one site.
Fulton Trotter Architects have joined the school in their consultative process to ensure that all stake holders have been included and the particular spirit and individualism of Mt Maria is incorporated into the future development. The outcome is a full master plan which:
- respects and maintains the significance of the existing heritage listed building
- develops the schools commitment towards the 21st Century Learner
- builds on the sense of community that the school fosters
- reflects the Marist heritage and Parish Pastoral Plan of Mt Maria College.
- Creates a detailed Traffic Management Plan for the site (via consultation with a Traffic Engineer) to deal with vehicular and pedestrian traffic on a complex site.
A Development Approval application has been lodged for the proposed master plan.
