Mackley Residence
This project is a 3 bedroom residence located at Robina on Queensland’s thriving Gold Coast. Built in 1990, it is planned as a series of spaces, progressing from a quite formal entry, through an entertainment zone, a family zone and into bedrooms and wet areas. Its forms are generated from reminiscence of the rural shed forms which graced the area prior to development of the area, with large openings connecting internal and external spaces. The verandah is spaced away from the house to allow hot air to escape without affecting interiors. Single room thickness planning leads to cool spaces in summer, while moderate northern overhangs allow warm sun conditions to the interior in winter.
