Qantas Founders Museum
Longreach Queensland
Fulton Trotter Architects was as one of two short listed Architects in a design competition for the Qantas Founders Museum redevelopment at Longreach.
The scope of works included an upgrade to an existing museum space which is the key building on the site and the hub to their display planes around the larger site. It also included expansion options for a 10 years master plan for the Museum which included shade structures for the collection of aircraft currently housed on the tarmac.
Fulton Trotter Architects developed a design concept which was based on cloud patterns in which all planes were housed with a unique style shade which also from a birds-eye view became a work of art.
Each plane would face the direction of the existing museum building and hangar space which would be “where planes always end up”.
