Southern Cross University

The first building of the Tweed Campus of Southern Cross University consists of three separable parts. The signature component, the Lecture Theatre, is designed to reflect it’s function as a place of lateral thinking and it’s nature as the ‘heart’ of the University.

It’s composition is evocative of abstract floral forms, the Tweed green environment and the flowering of the ‘city’ of Tweed. The teaching building is a simple, column free rectangle to allow maximum flexibility for change over it’s life, with the services tower reflecting the building’s hi-tech communcation function.

A glass atrium connects the two together.
