St Benedict's Catholic College, Science and Administration Buildings
St Benedict’s Catholic College in Oran Park is a new secondary school developed on a greenfield site in Sydney’s South-West. Fulton Trotter Architects developed a master plan for the site in 2011 to be completed across a number of stages. Stage 3 of the works includes two separate building; the new science building including 6 teaching labs and associated prep areas, and the School’s Administration building.
Colour is an important feature in the design of the science building, which brings science learning spaces to fruition. It was used to create focal points, break up the learning space and to accentuate important elements found within the interior.
The administration building provides the ‘front of house’ address to the school, and although it is somewhat recessed in the site plan, the bold colours, the dynamic roof, and the signage all work to give the desired sense of presence at the front of the school.
