St Vincent's Private Hospital
St Vincent’s Private Hospital appointed Fulton Trotter Architects to develop a Master Plan in 2018 for redeveloping the almost 100 year old Dalley St campus over the next 20 years.
Building on the Hospital’s Strategic Plan adopted in 2017, the Master Plan, developed in consultation with the Hospital and Community stakeholders, set out a future vision for Lismore’s significant private hospital.
Initially a Strategic Brief and Health Services Plan were developed to define the health services and floor areas required to meet their Strategic priorities as well as the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines (AHFG). Then a Master Plan was developed to set out a path for the hospital site’s redevelopment which will enhance St Vincent’s breadth of services and results in a Centre of Excellence for the Aged & Diseases of the Ageing that is “more than just a hospital”. This included significant upgrades to the majority of the built assets and infrastructure including significantly increased Residential Care, Retirement Living units and Hospital Inpatient beds and spaces along with additional operating theatres, allied health, clinical support, pastoral care spaces, and carparking. A staging strategy was developed to allow for the work to be done whilst keeping all existing services operational. In addition a program and estimate of costs were developed to allow for strategic decision making into the future.
The Master Plan improves the wayfinding and legibility of the site for both pedestrians and vehicles, affords opportunities to enjoy the views and provides additional landscaped areas across the site. One of the key design ideas was the creation of a ‘town centre’ on the site with access to health service as well as retail spaces, cafes and training and function spaces. The Master Plan allows for the provision of contemporary facilities that support and enhance wellbeing and healing.
