The Springfield Anglican College - Rosewood Resource Centre
The Rosewood Resource Centre is located in natural bushland. A wide range of flexible spaces supporting formal, informal and social learning experiences are provided. The existing college green is addressed as is expansive eastern views into a bushland canopy.
Brickwork is part of the established material palette and selected for its durability, warmth, scale and low maintenance. The brickwork screen to the west creates a new edge to the school green and provides a monumental presence. Gently curving brickwork walls formalises the first stage in a new pedestrian spine that will link the entire campus. The hit and miss screen provides protection from solar load and approaching storms, but allows filtered sunlight that changes with the time of day and seasons. Brickwork allowed the layers of walls to gradually become more transparent towards the building edges referencing the bushland vegetation which becomes less dense at its edges.
Face brick used on internal bench seats and floor inserts integrates internal and external spaces. Simmental Silver complimented the tonal range of adjacent eucalypts and the colour of bush rock present on site. This subdued colour beautifully contrasts with the intense sunlight and shadows and Colorbond matt black cladding.
