Brigidine College
St Ives New South Wales
This project involves the Master Plan of the existing Brigidine College site in St Ives in order to cater for an increase in enrolments and to provide upgraded facilities (particularly for Science, Library and Performing Arts). In 2010 Fulton Trotter was appointed to develop the Master Plan and the initial stages of the development following a design competition. The design for the site Master Plan seeks to maximise the facilities and usable site area within the school’s existing site while also revamping the image of the school to the community inspired by the school’s motto – Fortiter et Suaviter (“Strength and Gentleness”). New buildings will be added to the site and existing buildings modified in order to create larger areas of usable external space within the school while maintaining a strong exterior to the campus as a buffer to the busy roads surrounding the school. The design of the new buildings seeks to create functional spaces that are also educationally flexible.
A Development Approval application has been lodged for the first stages of this Master Plan and construction of Stage 1 of the works is to commence in mid 2011.
