Lakeside Christian College

Tweed Heads New South Wales

Lakeside Christian College is a masterplanned co-educational secondary school at Tweed Heads. To be developed over 5 stages, the initial buildings comprised administration and science, and were located to establish an iconic presence on the approach to the school amongst the surrounding houses.

The site is flood prone and within the flight path of Coolangatta airport requiring the school to be elevated and heavily insulated for aircraft noise. The buildings use simple economic materials and forms reminiscent of the farm buildings that once existed in the area as well as the imagery of the nearby Church associated with the school.
