Stella Maris Convent

Manly New South Wales

The restoration of the existing 1935 Convent by Fulton Trotter Carthey, in the Spanish Mission Style forms the first stage of the redevelopment to Stella Maris College. Stella Maris College is a non systematic Catholic girls school accommodating 850 students.

Following a detailed conservation study prepared by The Heritage Architects, sympathetic restorations were carried out to convert the existing building used as classrooms and storage into the schools Administration downstairs and Senior Student Tutorials upstairs.

The interior fitout consists of refurbishing and revealing existing parquetry floors, painting walls and ceilings as they originally were when the building was used as accommodation for the sisters of the Good Samaritan.

All removable furniture, fittings and equipment were selected to contrast with the period restoration to the interiors.
